Darrin Siemens's Testimony

Darrin Siemens

I was born in a Christian family and have been a Christian for most of my life. I became a Christian perhaps as young as two years old. I had a fisher-price toy phone that rang and did all sorts of interesting stuff. One day I remember dialing up a number on it and making the phone ring. After I picked it up and asked if Jesus was there. I responded like He was for Jesus is everywhere and can even hear our thoughts when we pray to Him. I just wanted to pretend that He was on the phone talking to me. Of course He doesn't have a phone number or anything. You can speak to Him wherever you are. I said into the toy phone, "Jesus, I want you to come into my heart, forgive me of my sins, and give me eternal life." And I can remember feeling really peaceful after. I know Jesus has come into my life and that He is still working on me.

God has given me a deep passion to share the gospel with many people because God has done amazing things for me and I want Him to do amazing things for others also. And the Lord wants us to share our faith with others because of His great love that He has for everyone. I know I fail time and time again when it comes to telling others about Christ because I am only human but God is working and helping me to overcome many fears and comfort zones. Because of these changes in my life, I can be more effective in serving Him. But I feel this need to share the gospel with others because God can come back at any moment, and those that aren't ready to meet God will be left behind.

One thing as Christians that I believe is important for us to remember is the verse Philippians 2:13. It says, "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose." Whenever we are doing anything, we need to realize that it is God who is working in us, and it isn't ourself. In order to minister effectively with others, we must first grasp this reality and realize that God is using us and working through us.

I also really enjoy reading the Bible and sharing its message with others. If I had all day, I could quote many favorite verses, but I would like to quote a passage here that srikes me a lot everytime I read it. Psalm 119:9-16 says, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart. Do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, O Lord; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees. I will not neglect your word." I enjoy reading this scripture because it describes exactly my desire to serve the Lord in whatever area He calls me to. I also see in these verses how far I am from living by them perfectly. No one can live by these verses 100% of the time. However, I am also reminded of the song "Little By Little He's Changing Me" and the last line which says, "And one day perfect I will be."

God has great plans for my life, both in the present and also in the future. He also has great plans for you as well. For we are all special to God and He knew each of us before we were even born and He has a different plan for each one of us. My desire is for myself is to be right in the center of God's will for my life for there is nothing that can be better than for us to be right in the center of God's will. God's desire for you is for you to have a relationship with Him. If you don't have one, pray to the Lord and He will come into your life and you can begin that relationship with God and He will teach you how to get right into the center of His will for your life.

God is now developing my gift of encouraging others. I spend a lot of time with people who are sad, depressed, have come out of bad situations, or are struggling with their lives. I find it meaningful to be a friend to the friendless. God also uses me to brighten up many people's day by being pleasant and joyful when I am with others.

One thing that has greatly impacted my life is Christian radio broadcasting. I grew up with it in my home. When I was twelve, I started paying a lot more attention to the programs and they have greatly encouraged my life and taught me a lot about the Bible. And at a young age, God placed a desire in my life to work in Christian radio one day and help make the gospel available to many more people. I believe that one day I will be sitting behind a radio microphone and sharing God's love with others. Right now, I believe that He is preparing me to do this one day and in His timing it will happen.

There are many times when I am tempted to doubt what God's will for me is. I often find myself asking, "What am I doing? Where am I going?" But that is when I trust God that He is showing me His will for my life. But I do see everyday, how God uses me to touch other people's lives. It really is amazing to see all that God has done for me and for others and how He uses us to impact the world. And I know that whatever God's plan is for my life, I know that I can count on Him to lead me down the right path. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." God can do the same thing for you if you will only let Him. Place your life into His hands by believing that God sent His only begotten Son Jesus into this world to die for all of your sins and that He rose again to bring you eternal life. When you accept God's gift of salvation, He will take you down the path that is best for you. Acts 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
